Advance ZincTek is Australia’s Largest Supplier of Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Grade Zinc Oxide Powder Used in Sunscreens and Personal Care Products
Company Overview
Advance ZincTek was formed in 1997 to commercialise pharmaceutical grade Non Nano Zinc Oxide Powder for Sunscreen & Skincare, originally developed by the University of Western Australia. Our global distribution is managed through our trading subsidiary, Antaria, ensuring consistent supply and trusted service worldwide. The company has been publicly listed on the ASX since 2005 (ANO).
Zinc oxide is recognised by the U.S. FDA as GRASE (Generally Recognised As Safe and Effective) and remains the only single active ingredient providing broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Advance ZincTek operates under strict FDA and TGA regulatory oversight, ensuring our products meet the highest global standards for safety, quality, and compliance.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has confirmed zinc oxide as safe for use in sunscreens and exempt from any further review, positioning it as the only mineral UV filter recognised as reliable and safe for long-term UVA and UVB protection.
As per the TGA’s statement in the Complementary and OTC Medicines Regulatory and Technical Forum (ComTech) - Record of Outcomes, April 2022:
“Based on literature surveys zinc oxide and titanium oxide are considered safe in sunscreens and will not be assessed (noting there may be other concerns relating to titanium oxide)”

Independent Scientific Studies on Zinc Oxide

ZinClear® XP is designed to provide exceptional UVB (SPF – 280nm to 320nm) and UVA (Broad Spectrum – 320nm to 400nm) protection while minimizing reflection in the visible spectra (400nm+) which causes the ‘white cast’ on the skin.
• Adding iron oxides further diminish white cast on skin, especially important for darker skin tones, but welcomed by all.
• Iron oxides provide protection against all visible light, including blue light.
• Darker skin tones are more susceptible to immediate pigment darkening when exposed to visible light.
• Lest you think this is a new notion, check out this reference to a 1991 paper from the JAMA dermatology; Efficiency of Opaque Photoprotective Agents in the Visible Light Range (Kaye, ET, et al., 1991).
FDA Position
The FDA sunscreen safety review (24/09/2021) confirmed Zinc Oxide as GRASE (Generally Recognised As Safe and Effective) and the only single active ingredient providing broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. In contrast, 12 other UV filters have been identified as potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic: Octinoxate, Avobenzone, Octocrylene, Ensulizole, Padimate O, Dioxybenzone, Oxybenzone, Octisalate, Homosalate, Meradimate, Sulisobenzone, and Cinoxate.
